“Onam” festival is celebrated in Kerala in a very grand manner. Keralites begin the “Atham” star of the “Chingam” month of Malayalam Calendar in an auspicious manner with “Pookaalam” (Floral decoration). They decorate the homes with floral designs. “Thiru-Onam”, the 10th day, is believed to be the day chosen by King “Mahabhali” to meet his citizens vide the boon granted by the Vamana Avtar of Maha Vishnu. Keralites celebrate the occasion in a joyous & befitting manner to express their well being to the King.
