MADC which is responsible for development of new airports in the state of Maharashtra has initiated the development of MIHAN. Nagpur is ideally located at the centre of the country. It has vast potential for movement of cargo and passengers. A Special Economic Zone (SEZ) bordering MIHAN project has also been approved and the necessary land acquisition for the SEZ in the first phase is complete. In the coming years, MIHAN and SEZ are going to become an important hub of economic and commercial activity in India.As per the understanding of between the Govt. of Maharashtra and Ministry of Civil Aviation, Nagpur Airport has been transferred to a JV company consisting of MADC & AAI.
BPCL has been allotted 10.035 acres of land in the MIHAN-SEZ area adjoining the Nagpur airport for putting up an Aviation Fuelling Station along with Hydrant facilities. With the expansion of the airport, traffic is expected to rise at Nagpur.
Mr. S.P. Mathur, Executive Director (Aviation) & Head Aviation Business Unit BPCL exchanged the signed Agreement with Mr. R.C. Sinha, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra & Vice CMD, MADC. Mr. V Jacob, Aviation Manger (West) and Mr. N.P.Gawai, Co-ordinator, Aviation (West) were also present to witness the signing of the agreement along with other MADC officials.
