All India Intensive Aviation Operations Refresher Course

22nd–24th November 2010 at Cochin AFS

The 6th All India Intensive Avn.Ops.Refresher course was organized at Cochin AFS under the esteemed leadership of sh. N.Anand, Aviation Manager South.

Twenty One participants from all the Regions including the SBU Head & G.M.Aviation sh.S.B.Bhattacharya & Eight Management Trainees attended the Course. The experienced faculty comprised of sh.Yashpal CAOM, sh.B.K.Singh Dy.QCM H.O. & sh.Milind Varhade DMAO, Cochin AFS.

This was Sh.Shyamal Bhattacharya’s first ever visit to Cochin AFS after taking over as Head of Aviation SBU. He was warmly welcomed by sh.N.Anand, Avn.Mgr South with a bouquet. The faculty & Team Leader HR were welcomed with flower bouquets by Team Cochin AFS. All the eight Management Trainees of Cochin AFS welcomed all the participants with a rose bud.

The course was inaugurated by G.M.Aviation by lighting the traditional South Indian lamp (Kuthu Vilakku). Sh.N.Anand, Avn.Mgr South welcomed him, the faculty & the participants in his welcome address. GM Aviation, in his inaugural address, invited questionnaire from all the participants, addressed their concerns of the future of Avn.SBU & gave bright insight to the explosive growth waiting to happen in the Industry in the years to come.

All the 3 days covered various class room sessions including field checks.

GM Aviation took full interest in all the topics & was an active participant throughout the three days. He bombarded the faculty with lots of questions.

On each & every topic, he took the opportunity to flare up the innovative thinking spirit of the BPC Aviation fraternity.

Sh.A.C.K.Nair, Airport Director, CIAL took a session on CIAL & described how they pioneered as the 1st even private Airport in the country.

Sh.Arvind Krishnaswamy, DGM Strategy, kindly agreed to GM Aviation’s request to talk on the Dream Plan of our Corporation and he took all the participants thru the process of Dream plan.

Sh.E.Nandakumar, ED KR came forth & kindly arranged for a guided tour of Kochi Refinery for all the participants.

GM Aviation himself took a session on detailing the Dream Plan of Aviation & got the full support of all the participants in implementing it.

Prizes were distributed to all the winners of the tests conducted at the end of the course. AM South & participants appreciated Cochin AFS Team for having organized the course very well.

A course Dinner was organized at Hotel Le Meridien which was attended by ED Kochi Refinery & his team along with all the local heads of various SBUs in Kochi. All the attendees shed their inhibitions by dancing away all their exhaustion.

Hindi week Celebrations at Cochin AFS

Inauguration ceremony to celebrate of the Hindi week was organized on 14.09.10. Function was inaugurated by Cochin AFS Hindi Coordinator Sh. Milind Varhade. A message From Minister, petroleum and natural gas- Sh. Murli Deora and Chairman and managing director- Sh. Radhakrishnan was read at the function. Management staff, labour staff, management trainees attended the function.

Different competitions such as Hindi essay writing, noting drafting, translation, hand writing and singing competitions will be held as a part of Hindi week celebrations. Importance of Hindi language in our daily life as a common language of communication was explained to all. As a part of PSU Organisation, the responsibility of every employee, for working in Hindi was addressed.

Hindi week celebrations will be concluded with prize distribution ceremony on 21st Sep 10.

ONAM celebrations at Cochin AFS

Onam” festival is celebrated in Kerala in a very grand manner. Keralites begin the “Atham” star of the “Chingam” month of Malayalam Calendar in an auspicious manner with “Pookaalam” (Floral decoration). They decorate the homes with floral designs. “Thiru-Onam”, the 10th day, is believed to be the day chosen by King “Mahabhali” to meet his citizens vide the boon granted by the Vamana Avtar of Maha Vishnu. Keralites celebrate the occasion in a joyous & befitting manner to express their well being to the King.

 

Cochin AFS celebrated Onam festival in a grand manner on 21st Aug 2010 by organizing "Pookkalam" at the AFS. Staff of all job groups joined together to make a huge floral design at the main entrance of the Admin Building. “Kutthu vilakku” (lamp) was lit and Puja was performed in the traditional style with “Thengin Pukkula” (coconut flowers) immersed inside “nel para” (measure filled with paddy).

                                                

All Staff sang devotional songs. Staff sh.Shamsuddin spoke about the importance & significance of this festival & the relevance of this day to Islam. “Onasadya” (Feast) was organized at the AFS with staff themselves taking turns to serve each other in a very harmonious manner.

BPCL proudly dedicates fuel hydrant facility on BAYS 14 & 15 at COCHIN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

At Cochin International Airport (CIAL), BPCL is both the hydrant owner and operator. We also have a small equity stake in CIAL.

BPCL has now extended the apron hydrant network to two more bays on the apron.The newly extended hydrant fuelling facilities on the extended new bays  shall facilitate hydrant refuelling on Bay No.14 & 15 at Cochin Airport which were  successfully commissioned by BPCL. With the extension of two bays, Airline and Airport Operators will have more flexibility in parking of Aircrafts.

The new bays were inaugurated by Airport Director- CIAL, Sri A C K Nair.A couple of photographs taken on that occasion

 

Inauguration of Eco-friendly Hydrant Refueling System (HRS)

16th Mar’2010 has become a historic day for Indian Air Force, 40 Wing, Gwalior . BPCL has constructed and

 

commissioned successfully Hydrant Refueling System (HRS) which shall be for exclusive use by IAF.

 

The newly built Hydrant Refueling System (HRS) is totally eco-friendly. Eco-friendly, as there is no auto-motive module on the dispensing units, no battery and hence no smoke and pollution. The dispensing carts are hand driven with improvised system for fulfilling the conditions of aviation module.

 

The newly built HRS was officially made open by Shri S. Mohan, Director HR.

 

Shri S. P. Mathur , E D Aviation , Air Commodore S. Neelakantan YSM VM, Air Officer Commanding of  Air force station Gwalior graced the ceremonies along with other dignitaries from Indian Air Force and officials of  Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd.
